FORMATION AND TYPOLOGY OF SHOPHOUSE IN THE OLD CHINESE QUARTER OF PATANI, THAILAND

タイ・パタニーの旧華人居住地のショップハウスの形成と類型に関する考察

One of the greatest challenges in the traditional Thai architecture is to balance the sustainable water development of quality of life and quality of environment. The existence of raft house community is a specific of water habitation traditional townscapes as well as the discovery of relationship between inhabitants of raft house and complementary in multi-function of raft house. The study aim is to achieve significance of the tradition of cultural habitation sites and economics of scale and scope through community. The study noted that raft house community should be　 preserved as an institutional tourism for its valuable traditional habitation, under modernization situation. One good usage of water amenity on rivers and canals is to turn them into a resource for tourism as well as sustainable

community. Moreover a generalization of the usefulness of the continuity multi- function of raft house by concept on water based function.・The study realizes that the context of water development depends on socioeconomic value, urban design, conservation, and urban ecology. This presentation will show (1) the significance of raft house can be explained them sustainable community in the globalization era. (2) the action plan of raft house should be implemented for community. (3) Education should be educated for the young generation.
